What to Expect

What to Expect

If you are in pain, our first objective is to help you reduce your pain and to start feeling better as soon as possible.  Then we will work to stabilize your condition and to keep you as functionally active as possible. There are some conditions which require ongoing management and support. Many patients are interested in achieving peak performance whether at home, work or in competition and find it beneficial to maintain their overall health and wellness with periodic checkups. How long it takes to get well is dependent on each individual case, their lifestyle and their health goals. We strive to offer you sound advice and effective treatment recommendations so that you can enjoy better health.

When you arrive

When you arrive at our office you will be greeted by our friendly staff.  You will be asked to take a few minutes to complete Patient Forms located in the New Patient Center. This provides us with important information concerning your health history and condition. To expedite your first visit, please download and complete the new Patient Forms from our website and call ahead with any insurance information so our staff can verify your specific plan benefits. We will ask to copy your Insurance card and Driver’s license. Our staff will discuss information regarding your insurance and our office procedures.

Consultation

Next, you will meet Dr. Lipka and discuss your current condition and pertinent health history. We ask you to provide as much information about yourself as you can including any illnesses or injuries, small or large during your lifetime. Please feel free to ask the doctor questions or express any concerns during this time. We schedule dedicated time for this initial visit with Dr. Lipka so that she can learn more about you, your condition, and expectations, and can determine how chiropractic care may be able to meet your healthcare needs.

Examination

Dr. Lipka will perform a thorough physical examination including standard orthopedic, neurologic and postural tests. Our examination is designed to target problem areas and to identify the cause of your condition. We want to help you gain an understanding of the symptoms you may be experiencing.

Diagnostic Imaging

Based on your history and examination, you may require imaging studies to better understand your specific problem, the cause of your symptoms and alert us to any serious conditions. If you have recent x-ray, MRI or CT studies, please bring them on your first visit so that Dr. Lipka can review them along with your clinical findings. If x-rays are necessary in your case, most studies can be performed on-site.

Report of Findings

After reviewing your medical history, physical examination and any other test results, Dr. Lipka will discuss her findings with you and discuss recommendations and options for safe and effective treatment.  Dr. Lipka will take time to answer any questions that you may have. If she determines that you may benefit from the care of another specialist, our office will help to coordinate an appropriate referral for you

Treatment

At the conclusion of this initial appointment, you may choose to experience your first treatment. This may include spinal manipulation or adjustments, therapeutic physical modalities and exercises. Dr. Lipka will review recommended home care which may include, ice, heat, stretches or rest. You may also be asked to modify or avoid certain activities or positions at home or at work. You are an important part of the team to help you achieve your health goals.

Wellness

Many people assume that if they don’t feel pain they are healthy. Unfortunately pain is a poor indicator of overall health.  Pain and other symptoms frequently appear after a condition or disease has become advanced. Most chiropractors regard the reduction of symptoms as the beginning of care. Discontinuing treatment prematurely increases the chances of the condition returning. It is necessary to follow your treatment plan even though your symptoms may be gone. Patients are generally seen more frequently when they initiate care before strengthening and healing are improved. Every person is unique and requires an individualized health and wellness plan. We will work with you to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle.
